Since our foundation in 1978, SES has been recognized as an undisputed world authority on the effects of soil on the interaction between electric installations and other utilities such as gas and oil pipelines, communication industries, and railway electrification. SES holds the distinction of being the only company worldwide totally dedicated to providing the scientific and engineering communities with expertise, software, and training for the solution of complex problems related to grounding, electromagnetic interference and electric transients such as lightning. SES has earned an international reputation for pioneering work in grounding and in electromagnetic and conductive interference analysis involving electrical networks. Typical areas of application of our R&D work include electrical system networks and neighboring utility installations such as oil and gas pipelines, telecommunications cables, and railway tracks.

The CDEGS software package is our flagship product. This industry-leading application and its various subpackages constitute a powerful set of integrated engineering software tools designed to accurately analyze problems involving grounding, lightning, electromagnetic fields, and electromagnetic interference including AC/DC interference mitigation studies and various aspects of cathodic protection and anode bed analysis with a global perspective, starting literally from the ground up.


A closer look at SES

SES's guiding principle is the belief that every customer desires, deserves and requires individual solutions for their unique needs. Therefore, the company custom designs its tools, programs, applications, procedures and services to suit the specific situation of each individual customer.

Four distinct but interrelated departments comprise the core of SES.  First, the Analytical Research and Development department designs the scientific tools necessary to address grounding, electromagnetic interference, and cathodic protection problems in relation to their respective environments. This department provides conceptual solutions to problems, and develops specifications for analytical portions of the software.

The Software Development department writes, tests and validates the code required to implement, on various computer platforms, the analytical models developed by the Analytical R&D department.  The Software Development department also provides sophisticated and efficient input, output, and graphical interfaces for the newly developed code.

The Applied Research and Development department incorporates and implements the technology generated by the other departments, while providing vital feedback necessary for the ongoing improvement of existing techniques and the advancement of R&D activities.

Finally, the Technical Training and Certification department provides the channel that SES’s customers uses to disseminate the technology generated by the other departments. This department also provides invaluable feedback necessary for the ongoing improvement of existing techniques and the advancement of R&D activities.
